How Mindset Works and how to Change It

MINDSET, we all talk about it, we all know it’s important, but do we really know how our mindset is formed?

Our mind is divided into conscious and subconscious minds.

CONSCIOUS mind is the intellectual part of your personality. All the books you are reading, people you are associating with, the media you are watching have given you tons of information that can shape your personality. Here is where we make decisions and here is where we create.

SUBCONSCIOUS mind is the emotional part of our personality, here is where we feel. Your subconscious mind has a great memory- remembers every experience, situation and feeling that you ever had.

All your belief systems, negative patterns, bad habits and even fears are stored in your subconscious mind.

Did you ever wonder why is it so difficult to change your patterns or belief system?

You have created them at a very early age by observing your parents, teachers or caretakers, hence it’s not so easy to change something that you have believed in for around 30 years.

Subconscious mind is your default system, your autopilot. You repeat your patterns, because you know what the outcome will be.

When we experience something negative as children that has an impact on our emotions and feelings, we are finding a way to make ourselves feel better- this is where your first patterns or coping mechanisms are born.

It can be overeating when stressed, people pleasing when wanting to feel loved or accepted, or sometimes reaching out for alcohol and drugs to numb the feelings we don’t want to feel.

Fear of going through similar experiences or emotions, makes your subconscious mind to always  choose the same pattern/coping mechanism to keep you safe.

So, how does the subconscious mind actually form?

Anything that you impress on your conscious mind and repeat it over and over again enters your subconscious mind. So unless we create new information in our conscious mind that we repeat over and over again to enter the subconscious mind, your past programming does control your actions at the moment, and will continue to control unless you replace it.

In order to change your pattern you need repetition. You need to start doing something over and over again until this will become a part of you.

Mindset Explained- Training

If you can hold it in your head, you can hold it in your hand.

You need to train your mind to become the person you want to be.

You need to walk, talk and behave like the person you want to become.

If you dream about having a successful business, and all you do is sit in front of the TV and just think how cool it would be to have money.

Nothing will happen.

Desire leads to new actions and new actions are giving you new results.

So what steps can you take today to change your mindset?

1. Build awareness

2. Decide what you want instead. Be clear on your new goals

3. How will that make me feel

4. Action Plan- what do I need to do daily to get where I want to be

5. Consistent Execution (min 30 days to create a habit)
